Inspired by her grandfather's oil paintings as a child and always encouraged to be creative, Linda Crank entered the American Academy of Art in Chicago in the early '70s. In addition to studying under classically trained teachers, she was also invited to work on staff as an assistant in the photography department.

Upon graduation, she became a commercial artist at the Emmett J. Newman Studio in Chicago's Loop. In the years following, she worked as an illustrator for newspapers, editorials, books, magazines and advertising agencies. Her most rewarding project was revising and illustrating a literacy primer while she, her husband and two sons worked overseas in Pakistan for ten years.

After returning from abroad, Linda fulfilled a long-time dream by learning the art of oil painting. In just her first year of study, she was juried into the Cincinnati Art Club's national ViewPoint show. The following year, one of her paintings won the Nova Davis Memorial Award in the Cincinnati Women's Art Club show. She is currently a Signature Member of the Cincinnati Art Club .

Since each piece of art takes many hours of thoughtful work, she is particular about choosing her subject matter and composition. The quality of drawing, effects of light and shadows, choice of colors, and small details are important to her. The result is a work of art with depth and scope designed to speak to the viewer on different levels for a long time.
